A lifetime of memories

Created by Sandra 3 years ago

Marilyn was my younger sister, so I have known and loved her all her life. She was closely involved with her family and many friends, and was a loving sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Marilyn was interested in many things, which made her interesting company; was a good hostess and cook, and an intrepid traveller. She had a much better fashion sense than I did, so was able to advise me on this!

I have so many memories of her and the things that we did together over nearly 70 years that it's difficult to isolate a few of them. I remember picking primroses with her when we were children, playing with home-made bows and arrows in the garden at Sunbury, and making treacle toffee (aptly named "stick-jaw") which was part of our family ritual for fireworks night. More recent memories include enjoyable meals involving the four of us (with Stephen and Tony), and visits by Marilyn and myself to obscure London museums.

I miss her a great deal.
