We first met at Thomson Holidays in the Seventies. I was Sales Promotions Manager and Marilyn joined the team. I was her boss for all of 20 minutes before she took over running the department. Her first words to me were "You can't possibly wear that tie with this shirt". She was right, as she was on so many occasions in the years that followed. My fashion sense was a constant source of amusement and bewilderment to her.
